Ann Arbor, MI —Dr. Suzanne Jones, Medical Director at Michigan Vein Care Specialists, today released her new book Healthy Legs – The Definitive Guide To Treating Varicose Veins.Healthy_Legs_Definitive_Guide_Treating_Varicose_Veins

“Roughly one in four American adults suffers from varicose veins,” says Dr. Jones, who founded Michigan Vein Care Specialists in 2012 to provide a state-of-the-art vein care center in southern Michigan.

“Varicose veins are those bulging, blue, rope-like veins that protrude beneath the skin”, explains Dr. Jones.  “They’re often accompanied by swelling, heaviness and leg pain.  Varicose vein treatments have made some exciting advances in recent years. In the past they often required hospital stays, a full general anesthetic and a week or more of recovery.  Now they can be performed using less invasive techniques as a simple office procedure conducted in a lunch break,” says Dr. Jones.

“This book needed to be written because the array of varicose vein treatment options can be confusing. With more physicians offering vein procedures, it’s vital that patients get educated first before deciding which medical provider would be best to treat them,” explains Dr. Jones

Dr. Jones adds that “Healthy Legs is an easy, quick read. Topics covered include the causes of varicose veins and how to prevent them from recurring, the difference between spider veins and varicose veins (and how to effectively treat both), the most cutting-edge varicose vein treatments available and how to select the right vein doctor for your treatment.”

A sought-after vein care specialist, Dr. Jones is offering complimentary copies of her new book for a limited time. “Vein treatment has come a very long way in the past decade,” says Dr. Jones. “It is my hope that this book will inspire, motivate and encourage those who suffer from varicose veins to seek relief sooner rather than later. Reading this book is a good first step for anyone who is considering having treatment.”

More about Suzanne Jones, MD, FACS: Dr. Jones graduated from Michigan State University, College of Human Medicine, with honors in 1998, and the same year was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.  She completed a five-year residency in general surgery at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor, and begin her career as a surgeon near Chicago, performing a wide variety of complex surgical procedures (including vascular surgery). During this time the treatment of venous disease was undergoing a radical transformation, (thanks to the rapid advancement of minimally-invasive procedures such as laser and radiofrequency treatments). Dr. Jones became one of the early pioneers and took the initiative to get educated on the new techniques – and began offering the procedures to her patients. Thrilled at the option of having minimally-invasive treatment, word quickly spread about Dr. Jones’ skill in treating venous disease and her deep compassion for her patients.

She is board certified in Surgery, is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Diplomat of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine.

In 2005, Dr. Jones moved back to Michigan to join Chelsea Surgical Associates, bringing to southeast Michigan her expertise in minimally-invasive treatment of venous disease. Her patients and referring physicians quickly built her practice through word-of-mouth referrals and she became one of the area’s top physicians in treating venous disease.

In early 2013, Dr. Jones opened the doors to her own practice, Michigan Vein Care Specialists – one of Michigan’s finest state-of-the-art vein care centers – built around the needs of its patients, delivering an exceptional standard of care.
